Guide to Ecstacity

Laurence King, London, 2003

Simultaneously Coates’ guide to his imaginary city and a compendium of his ideas on architecture and the city. Designed by the award winning graphics studio Why Not, it is a visual feast that encourages multiple reading and non linear narrative. He argues that the body and our experience define the baseline for architecture, and that notions of aesthetics and function are contingent qualities.
