Slamp Stand, Euroluce 2013

As Creative Director of the Italian lighting company Slamp, Coates was invited to design their trade stand for Euroluce at the 2013 Milan Furniture Fair. Playing on the experiential aesthetic of the art gallery, he delivered an intriguingly animated space of subtle, shadowy colours articulated by tilting, oversized picture frames. Every product had its own niche yet fitted neatly into the wider narrative of the stand.

The four hundred square metre stand featured eight new product lines, including three of Coates own, in addition to a pick of Slamps established bestsellers. If its popularity with photographers is anything to go by, the stand will be remembered for many years to come.
