Katharine Hamnett HQ

Katharine Hamnett, the well-known British fashion designer and campaigner has established her new design studio near London Fields in Hackney. We were invited to create a straightforward functional organisation for the two storey space incorporating photo studio, meeting room, clothing archive and open plan studio. Conscious of the need for optimising light we agreed on creating a whiter than white environment on the upper level with white floors as well as walls and ceiling. In the studio fitting room cutting table and sewing machines sit alongside the design and spec area. Visitors are welcomed from an arbored alley filled with trellised window boxes and clipped trees, the perfect spot to relax amidst this seriously focussed working environment.
